I am a New Zealand contemporary dancer living in Brussels, Belgium. I have been working freelance for others and on my own projects for the past 10 years, both in NZ and Europe. I trained at UNITEC School of Performing & Screen Arts (Auckland), graduating in 1995. In NZ I worked with companies such as Touch Compass, Opera NZ and Weta Productions (film), and was a founding member of Curve Dance Collective.

In 2000 I received a DanceWEB scholarship for the Sommertanzwochen in Vienna. Since then I have performed with companies in Austria (Cy.ancal), Switzerland (Cie. Fabienne Berger; Nikunja), Hungary (Two in One) and Belgium (Les Ballets C de la B, Maria Clara Villa Lobos, Random Scream, Poni, Pierre Rubio, Heine Avdal, Cacao Bleu).

I have always created my own works- choreographed or improvised. “Someone Else’s Weirdo” which included improvisation was performed extensively in NZ in 2000, then reworked to appear in the Festival C’est Du Jamais Vu in Brussels in 2002. My last solo “Roasted Addiction” was performed in Nov/Dec 2004 in Brussels in the Beursschouwburg, Espace Catastrophe and Pianofabriek.

I sing with electronic musician Object/ Vanno (www.foton.be & www.t2x.be) with whom I released a 12” single on Swedish label “Sound of Habib”. Our performance Bent Object combining live vocal manipulation and dance via sensors attached to the body premiered in Brussels in September 2005 (www.nadine.be). A tour of this performance is planned for NZ and Australia in 2006, as well as a dvd (music) release in February.

I also teach both professional and amateur contemporary dance classes and improvisation workshops in Belgium and NZ, including regular teaching for Wim Vanderkuybus’ company Ultima Vez.
