Born in Ostend. Lived in New York for 5 years and back in Antwerpen now.
After her studies in Antwerpen she collaborated as a performer and musician with independent artists from performance art and the electronic music-scene in Belgium and abroad.
In 1998 , she received the Vondelpreis for Choreography (Reisestipendium) from the Arts Granting Organization Alfred Toepffer Stifftung in Hannover.
In New York City, she studied and worked with American choreographer Merce Cunningham, on a Full Merit Scholarship during 4 years.
After graduation, Chantal founded the Art & New-Media collective-RADICAL LOW and started collaborating with visual artists.

She was the first Belgian choreographer to receive an Artistic Residency at the Judson Church-Movement Research Organisation and 92nd Street Y/Harkness Dance Center, in New York City.
Presently and from Antwerpen, where she rehearses, Chantal Yzermans regularly presents new collaborative creations in NYC and Berlin.
She also teaches ‘Cunningham Technique’ and ‘Composition in Movement’ in Europe: Dock 11 and MimeCentrum in Berlin, Conservatorio Profesional de Madrid  and Koninklijke Balletschool in Antwerpen.
